Threads
Sewing thread is the single most bought item in our Kraków shop. We keep several hundred colours in a range of weights — from fine silk threads to strong denim ones. We will help you pick the right one for your fabric and match the shade by holding the spool against the material.
All-purpose threads
Medium-weight polyester thread is the backbone of any sewing box. It suits cotton, linen, viscose and most garment fabrics, both for machine and hand sewing. A 100-metre spool covers several projects.
Available in the widest colour range we stock — including shades you will not find in supermarket sets.
Denim and heavy-fabric threads
Thicker and stronger, often in the characteristic mustard and brown shades that mimic original denim topstitching. Suitable for jeans, canvas and upholstery. Machine sewing calls for a heavier needle — usually size 100 or 110.
Silk and stretch threads
Silk threads have a distinct sheen and a smooth, soft finish. They are used for silk, chiffon and satin, and anywhere the seam should stay discreet or become decorative in its own right.
Stretch threads extend with the fabric, which makes them the only sensible choice for jersey, underwear and sportswear. An ordinary thread simply snaps at the first firm pull.
Linen threads and embroidery floss
Linen threads have a matte finish and a natural twist that sits well with natural fabrics. We stock embroidery floss separately — in skeins, by the piece, in a full colour range.
What they are used for
- Machine sewing — match thread weight to needle and fabric, or the seam will pucker and the thread will break.
- Hand sewing and repairs — sewing on a button, taking up a hem, mending a split seam.
- Overlocking — an overlocker needs larger cones, as it feeds from several spools at once.
- Embroidery and craft — floss, silk and metallic threads for needlework and scrapbooking.
- Curtains — fine thread in the fabric colour, so the seam stays invisible against the light.
How to choose
- Match weight to fabric. The finer the material, the finer the thread. Heavy thread will leave holes in chiffon.
- Go one shade darker. Thread looks lighter in the seam than on the spool — when in doubt, take the darker one.
- Jersey needs stretch thread. This is the most common mistake when sewing underwear and T-shirts.
- Buy a little extra. Matching the same shade from a different batch later can be difficult.
- No fabric sample? Bring the material itself. Holding a spool against it takes a moment and saves disappointment.

- Gütermann — German maker, present in our shop in the creativ (all-purpose, 100 m), Jeans NG300, silk, stretch and linen lines.
- Ariadna — Polish manufacturer from Łódź. We carry the Talia (30/70 m), Texar 200E (360 m) and Tytan 60E (120 m) lines.
